Unity Linux – Weekly Update 0001x
Hello everyone!
What’s going on in Unity Linux land? From all appearances, not much…but appearances can be deceiving. We’ve had a lull in activity for the past few months but a resurgence has occurred in the past few weeks and progress/activity flourishes once again.
There isn’t much left before an ISO for 2011 is kicked out the door…in fact, we should get our door kicking boots on right now!
Well,ok. We’re almost ready. A bit more than a week after the last Unity Linux developers meeting, things have really started to pick up. We’ve begun addressing all the bugs in the bug tracker, and we’ve managed to get a few more updates to packages like new version of libreoffice, firefox 5 and much more. Also, you might have read this review about wxbanker. Well, you now can find wxbanker in the repositories. Enjoy.
We’re making progress on the bug blocking the install process after having rebooted from the livecd. A few kernel modules not compatible with the new kernel have been identified and added to the bug tracker. On the ARM side of things, it’s starting to look a bit brighter. Mdawkins succeeded in getting the chroots back up and running and finished a native kernel build. Next up is systemd.
Stay tuned for more…
